Pietro Mattiace, 84, of Worcester, passed away in his home on Friday, June 14, 2013. He is survived by his former wife and still dear friend, Vincenza "Enza" (Costantini) Mattiace of Worcester; their children, a son, John Peter Mattiace and his fiancé Helen McNamara of Manchester, NH; a daughter, Rita McConville and her fiancé William Lyman of Warwick, MA; three grandchildren, Andrew J. Mattiace, Christina Marie Mattiace and Peter J. McConville; a great grandson, Ryley; three brothers, Leonardo Mattiace of Holiday, FL, Nick Mattiace of Melbourne, FL and Arcangelo Mattiace of Lancaster, PA; two sisters, Rosa Palazzolo on Wantagh, NY and Angela Stella Bruton of Massapequa, NY; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Vito Michael Mattiace. Pietro was born in Toritto, Province of Bari, Italy, son of the late Pietro and Maria (Ferrante) Mattiace. He served in the Italian Army and lived in Italy for many years, before moving to The United States in 1966, where he lived in Queens, NY before moving to Clinton, MA several years later. Pietro and his family moved to Worcester in 1980. He worked for many years as a machine operator, retiring in 1986 from Madison Wire Cable Company. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church. He enjoyed hunting and was a meticulous gardener. He loved his family and being surrounded by them brought him great joy. He enjoyed visiting family in Italy and taking trips to Florida to enjoy the warmth. Calling Hours for Pietro will he held on Monday, June 17, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, from the funeral home with a Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church. Entombment will follow in Saint John's Mausoleum, Worcester.
