Peter J. Pats, 89, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in Saint Vincent Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Annamae T. (Cursi) Pats; a son, Peter J. Pats, Jr. and his wife Christine of Worcester; a daughter, Diane M. Morrow and her husband William of Worcester; three grandchildren, Pamela J. Pats, Dr. Ann Marie C. Murray and her husband Sean and Kyle J. Paganelli; two great grandchildren, Gavin J. Murray and Gianna A. Murray; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother and three sisters, Benjamin Patts, Stella Finney, Anna Walsh and Mary Baniukiewicz. Peter was born in Worcester, son of the late Peter P. and Sophie (Wedda) Pats, and has lived here all his life. He graduated from Worcester High School of Commerce and later graduated from Worcester Junior College. Peter served his nation proudly in the United States Navy, during World War II. Peter worked as a machinist at the former Heald Machine Company for many years, before he retired in 1984. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church; the Adelphi Knights of Columbus #4181 in Shrewsbury. He enjoyed bowling in area leagues for many years and loved to spend time tending to his gardens. Peter was a great man but will be remembered by his family as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Throughout his life, Peter always put his love of his family first. Calling hours and his Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday morning, May 25. Calling hours will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, followed by a procession to Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester, where Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Webster.
