Claire M. (Brown) Stansky, 93 died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. She was the daughter of George and Anna (Auclair) Brown and the wife of Joseph Stansky who passed away in 1978. Claire was a lifelong resident of Worcester, attending St. Joseph's School, Worcester and Worcester Girls Trade School. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved cooking, bowling, traveling and her beloved Red Sox. She was a master knitter, often teaching and helping others with their knitting challenges. Her "booties" were world renown. As a child, she loved to swim and served as the mascot for the Olympic Swim Team of the Worcester Boys and Girls Club in 1925. Claire is survived by her beloved children, Dorothy of Worcester, Eleanor and her husband Richard Padovano of Whitinsville, Allen and his wife Marietta of Worcester, Peter and his wife Helen of Sturbridge and Paul and his wife Ann of Douglas. She is also survived by eleven loving grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sisters Irene Kniskern, Anne Drugan and Rita Belsito. Family and friends will honor and remember Claire's life by gathering on Monday, May 20, 2013 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family-St. Joseph's Church, 35 Hamilton St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester. A period of visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16th from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
