James R. Spofford, 44 of Northbridge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at UMASS Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. James is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Carla K. Spofford; their daughter, Ocean Y. Spofford of Northbridge; his mother, Bonnie G. Spofford of Plymouth, MA; his father, Philip S. Spofford and his wife Joy of Jacksonville, FL; his paternal grandmother, Peggy Spofford of Cape Cod; two brothers, Sean S. Spofford and his wife Theresa of Houston, TX and Erin Spofford of Jacksonville, FL; his sister, Erica Vulhop of Jacksonville, FL; his mother-in-law, Joyce Gomes-Tavares of East Providence; two brothers-in-law, Carl Gomes of Worcester and Shane Gomes of Wareham; his aunt, Robin Spofford of Cape Cod; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles cousins and friends. James was born in Wareham, MA. He grew up in San Jose, California and Buzzards Bay. He attended Monta Vista High School in Cupertino, CA. James lived in Worcester for twelve years and later moved to Clifton Park, NY and recently moved to Northbridge where he has lived for the past three years. James worked as a FedEx Ground Driver for five years and later worked as a manager for Dick's Sporting Goods in Saratoga, NY. James was a dedicated baptized member of the Jehovah's Witness organization and attended the Northbridge Kingdom Hall. James enjoyed golfing, fishing and skiing. He had a passion for White Water Rafting. James loved repairing and working on cars and bikes. A period of visitation for James will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.
