Patsy P. "Pat" Tortora, 86, of Holden passed away peacefully Saturday April 27th 2013 in his home with his family gathered beside him. Pat was born in Worcester, the son of Italian immigrants Julio and Dora (Ricchiuti) Tortora. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School, and then joined the U.S. Navy to serve his country during World War II. Upon his return from service Pat used the GI-bill to further his education, entering Worcester Industrial Technical School to study drafting. After graduation, Pat accepted a position with the Riley-Stoker Company as a draftsman where he remained until retirement in 1989. He met and married the love of his life and wife for the next 61 years, Betty Moore. Together they settled in Worcester before moving to Holden over 35 years ago. Pasty is survived by his wife, Betty L. (Moore) Tortora; many nieces and nephews including, Donna Barsness, Ann Molinari-Leroux, Kathy Hair and Joseph Molinari; many extended family members and several friends. His two sisters, Grace Leana and Antoinette Molinari both pre deceased him. Pat was an avid golfer who could be seen regularly on the golf courses of Wachusett and Holden Country Clubs. He also liked to bowl and was a member of several bowling leagues at the Auburn bowling lanes. Beyond his other interests Pat was a member of the Greendale's Men's Club. He liked to garden and especially travel with his wife to many placers including the Panama Canal and throughout the United States. Calling hours and funeral mass will be private. Burial will be in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of Leominster, 305 Whitney St Leominster, MA 01453.
