Thomas S. Whitley, 79, of Niceville, Florida, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 23rd 2013, in Florida. His wife Adele pre- deceased him seven years ago. Thomas was born and brought up in Atlanta Georgia; one of eight children of James O. and Maude (Simpson) Whitley. He joined the U.S. Navy to serve his country during the Korean Conflict. Tom met and married a Worcester woman, Adele (Sarb) Whitley. They lived in Worcester prior to moving to Niceville over 40 years ago. Tom leaves a sister, Rosalyn Newman in Georgia, a sister in law, Lila Richards in Auburn, and many nieces and nephews including, Karen Martucci and her husband Vincent, Darlene Shelden and her husband Jim and Rudy Mariano. He also leaves behind many grandnieces, grandnephews and friends. He will be missed by many. Tom owned and operated several restaurants both here and in Florida. He owned and operated a restaurant on Lincoln St. When he moved to Florida, Tom owned and operated Tom's Steakhouse many years before retiring. Tom was a humble man, who liked to play Keno, listen to Western Music and sing Karaoke. Funeral services for Tom will be held Monday April 29th at 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A period of calling hours will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am prior to the service. Burial next to dear wife Adele will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
