Eva Nardella, 96, of Shrewsbury, known to those who loved her as "Auntie", passed away peacefully, on Friday, April 19, 2013, in Autumn Village. Eva was born in Shrewsbury, daughter of Donato and Gaetana "Rose" (Iacavone) Nardella and was a life-long resident of Shrewsbury, before entering Autumn Village on May 1, 2009. The caring aides, nurses and doctors became her second family; those special people gave her such wonderful care and made her feel at home. "Auntie" leaves many nieces and nephews, including her care-givers, Donna Nardella and her companion Brian Dorsey of Shrewsbury and Libby Tomaiolo and her husband Gerald of Worcester; her sister in law, Mary P. Nardella of Worcester; many great nieces and great nephews. She was pre-deceased by all seven of her sisters and brothers, Mary Nardella and Rose A. Simmarano, Joseph, Angelo, Matteo, Anthony and Albert Nardella. Eva worked for many years in the house keeping department at Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Saint Anne's Church in Shrewsbury and The Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed travelling, especially her trip to Italy. A life-long resident of Shrewsbury, she loved her family and the neighborhood where she was born in and lived for most of her life. She enjoyed her garden, walking, playing the piano and the simple things in life. Calling hours and her Funeral will be held on Monday, April 29. Calling hours will be held on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, followed by a funeral procession to Saint Anne's Church, 120 Boston Turnpike Road, Shrewsbury, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester.
