Joyce A. (Bakanowski) McSheehy, 81 of Worcester, a devoted wife and mother passed away peacefully Wednesday April 24th 2013 after a period of declining health. Joyce was born in Worcester, one of three children of Stanislaw and Anne (Radziwill) Bakanowski. She grew up in Worcester, graduated from Classical High School and attended Saltus Secretarial School. She then took a position as a clerk for the Federal Government Social Security Administration; where she worked many years before retiring and has lived here all her life. Joyce is survived by the two people she loved so much; Her husband of over 55 years, Vincent S. McSheehy, Sr. and her devoted son, Vincent S. McSheehy, Jr. with whom she lived; Many nieces and nephews. Her brother, Alfred Bakanowski and sister, Virginia George both pre deceased her. Joyce was a member of St John Church. She was a devoted New England Patriots Fan and loved to read. The most important things in Joyce's life were her husband and son. Their wellbeing and care were the utmost inspirations in her life. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Friday, April 26th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be celebrated Saturday April 27th from the funeral home with Celebration of Life Mass at 9:30 am in St John's Church, 40 Temple St. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
