Rose S. (Lavoie) Grandmaison, 98, of Worcester passed away peacefully Thursday, April 11th 2013 with family by her side. Rose was born in Worcester, one of two daughters born to Joseph and Rose (Riedtman) Lavoie. She grew up, and was educated in Worcester and met and married the love of her life and longtime husband Joseph Grandmaison. Together they settled in Worcester to raise their family and have lived here all her life. Rose's husband Joseph passed away in 1984. She is survived by eleven of the thirteen children she and Joseph were blessed with, a son, Rene Grandmaison and his wife Theresa of Auburn, ten daughters, Dorothy Salem, Joan Binonis, Theresa Colegrove and Rosemary Gremo all of Worcester, Lydia Baker, Greta Lupien, Linda Wilson and her husband Richard all in Florida, Helen Knault of Charlton, Maryann Stetson and her husband Kenneth in Maine, Annmarie Desroches and her husband Robert in Spencer; 52 grandchildren; 90 great grandchildren; 27 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A daughter, Rita Carlson, and a son Joseph Grandmaison Jr., and a sister Eva Grandmaison all pre deceased her. Rose worked during her employed years as a machine operator for several companies in the manufacturing industry before retiring. Rose was a member of St Stephen's Church. She loved to play bingo and cards, read and socialize. In the facility she lived in Rose was considered a "Social Butterfly" Rose was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She considered the extremely large family of over 192 descendants her life and love. She treasured the times she could be with them and have them around her. They were her inspiration and life. Rose's Celebration of Life funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 16th at 11:00 am St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St. Calling hours are private. Memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Holy Trinity Long Term Care Center Activities fund, 300 Barber Ave, Worcester 01605.
