Gilberta F. Macedo, 87 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. Gilberta's husband of fifty-three years, Francisco Macedo passed away on December 18, 2005. She is survived by three sons, Luis Macedo and his wife Tina Pereira of New Bedford, Joao Macedo and his wife Fatima of California and Mario Macedo and his wife Carol of Florida; three daughters, Ana McElwee and her husband Steve of Worcester, Ivone Czamara and her husband Allen of Auburn and Paula Roderick and her husband Richard of South Carolina; a brother, Fernando Pimentel of Canada; two sisters, Fatima Gincola of Florida and Elzira Homem of Clinton; fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by three brothers. Gilberta was born in S. Jorge, Azores, Portugal, a daughter or the late Domingos and Lucinda Pimental. Gilberta worked as an assembler for Bose Corporation for seventeen years before she retired in 1993. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Auburn. Gilberta enjoyed gardening and cooking. Services for Gilberta will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St., Auburn. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
