John E. Amorello Sr.

John E. Amorello Sr.89,of Shrewsbury passed peacefully Wednesday morning April 3, 2013, in the Holy Trinity Nursing & Rehabilitation Center with family around him. His lovely wife Louise (Paldino) Amorello passed away in 2000. John is survived by his loving children; Irene E. Amorello- Whalen of Worcester,Janet L. Amorello and her husband Anthony Tomasiello Jr. of Holden, and Edward C. Amorello and his wife Anne Marie of Worcester, seven grandchildren; Charles S. Whelan, J. William Whelan, John E. Amorello, Regina Amorello, Olivia Amorello, Samuel A. Tomasiello,and Hannah R. Amorello, A brother Anthony Amorello and his wife Patricia,also a brother in law Charles Vilandre, and many nephews and nieces. John was predeceased by a daughter, Carol P. Amorello in 2003 and a son John E. Amorello Jr. in 2010. He was also predeceased by two brothers William and Edward Amorello, and five sisters, Lena Zamarro, Georgianna Ricciardi, Ann Zamarro, Irene Charles, and Dorothy Vilandre. John was born in Worcester son of the late Antonio and Josephine (Pane) Amorello and lived in Worcester many years before moving to Shrewsbury 40 years ago. He attended North High School and graduated from Commerce High School. John also attended Worcester Junior College. He served his country proudly in the Army Air Corps/ Air Force during WW11.Upon returning from the service, John along with his brothers went to work at the A. Amorello Construction Company which was founded by his father in 1914 and worked there for many years before becoming the founder and owner of the J. E. Amorello & Sons Construction Company in 1995 where he worked until he retired. Among his many memberships John was a life member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church, The Local # 4 Union of Operating Engineers, and the Massachusetts Utility Contractors Association, The Worcester Art Museum, The American Legion Post # 201 East Side, the Air Force Association, and was a fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. He was also a member of the Pope John Council XX111 Knights, and was also an Overseer at Old Sturbridge Village for many years. John was a History buff, and was also a lover of all Animals, he enjoyed working in his Vegetable Garden, but most of all he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. John was a kind and devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by his family and friends. John's funeral will be held Saturday April 6, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 4:00PM to 7:00PM on Friday. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church Restoration Fund, 24 Mulberry St. or to the Autism Research Center 71 Sterling St. West Boylston, MA.01583. Member,s of the East Side Post will gather at the funeral home at 7PM to perform their ritual.
