John B. "Jake" McLean, 82 of Worcester died Friday, March 29, 2013 in St. Vincent Hospital after a brief illness. He leaves his loving wife of 56 years, Marie N. (Meringolo) McLean, a daughter Kim McLean of Worcester and her partner David Germain; two sons, Paul J. McLean and his wife Tracy of Auburn and John R. McLean and his partner Robert Gervais of Worcester; two granddaughters, Brittany and Calli McLean both of Auburn; a sister in-law, Ann McLean; many nieces and nephews, including Nancy Meringolo who he always called "niece". He also leaves behind many dear friends and special neighbors. He is predeceased by his brother Andrew McLean. Jake was born on November 22, 1930 in Worcester, MA and was preceded in death by his father, John B. McLean, Sr. and his mother, Catherine (Paul) McLean. He graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester. John served our country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1956. He was a member of St. Stephen's Church in Worcester and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Jake enjoyed his crossword puzzles, video games and watching sports. He enjoyed many happy years socializing with all his friends at "The Plantation Club." Mr. McLean was employed by Wyman-Gordon Co. for over 40 years as a Pipefitter. The family wishes to thank the amazing doctors, nurses and staff at St. Vincent Hospital for their relentless efforts on behalf of Jake. A memorial Mass will be held for Jake on Saturday, April 6th at Saint Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St., Worcester at 10:00 a.m. There are no calling hours.
