Mary J DiRienzo

Mary J. (Cirella) DiRienzo, 94, of Worcester, passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Marlborough Hills Healthcare in Marlborough, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband of forty-nine years, Gerald A. "Gerry" DiRienzo in 1997. Mary is survived by a daughter, Elissa J. Edwards of Powell, TN; a son, Gerald DiRienzo, Jr. and his wife, mary of Marlborough; two brothers, Gus Cirella of Holbrooke and Tony Cirella of Tampa; three grandchildren, Kate DiRienzo-Payne of Los Angeles, Mark DiRienzo of Northborough and Matthew DiRienzo of Los Angeles; a great grandson, Gianni; many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her son in law, Ron Edwards and by a brother, Victor Cirella. Mary was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the daughter of Aristide and Elissa (D'Auria) Cirella, and has lived in Worcester most of her life. She worked as a dental assistant for various doctors throughout the city, before she retired. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Parish, it's Golden Years Group, it's women's guild and San Vitaliano Society. She was also a member of the Greendale Retirees and the auxiliary of the Friday Retirees Men's Club. She enjoyed travelling, bus trips and visits to the casino. She was a loving woman devoted to her family and enjoyed sharing good times and her wonderful sense of humor. Calling hours for Mary will be held on Wednesday morning, April 3, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, then processing to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester, where he Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester.
