She came to Worcester as an infant with her family, and graduated from Commerce High School in 1952. After graduation Eleanor began her working career with the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company as a Customer Service Representative for several years. Later she was offered a position as a company representative and trainer for New England and the entire East Coast for the Copymate Company, followed by employment with the News Recorder Newspaper. Eleanor then took a break from work to care for her mother and upon her mother's passing assumed a position in the Activity Department of the University Commons Nursing Care Center where she remained many years until her retirement in 1996. Eleanor is survived by the brother she loved very much, Charles Ayoub of Shrewsbury; a nephew and godchild, Joseph Ayoub of Alexandria, VA; a niece, Dr. Jennifer Ayoub of West Palm Beach, FL; and several other extended family members and friends. Active in her church, St George Orthodox Cathedral, Eleanor was instrumental in co-founding, organizing and serving as an advisor of the (SOYO) St George Syrian Orthodox Youth Organization. She also served as President and Chairman of the New England Syrian Orthodox Youth Organization's 25th Silver Anniversary celebration. She was a church choir member for 20 years, a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Church Women's Club. Eleanor was a loving, caring person who enjoyed helping people. She gave of herself whenever she could or was asked. As her mother aged, Eleanor provided care, compassion, and comfort to her until her passing in 1996. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday March 28th 2013 from 6pm to 8pm in St George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. Her funeral service will follow on Friday, March 29th at 10:00 am in the church.
