George P Pacheco

February 22, 1941 — March 22, 2013

George P. Pacheco, 72, of Shrewsbury formerly of Millbury, a retired Worcester Police Officer, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 22, 2013. George is survived by his loving wife of nearly fifty-four years, Darlene R. Pacheco; their children, Stephen R. Pacheco and his wife Christine of Sutton; Deborah A. Mostone and her husband Dr. Edward J. Mostone of Winchester, Robin L. Tomaiolo and her husband Matthew F. Tomaiolo of Shrewsbury and Christine Webster and her husband David M. Webster of Shrewsbury. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Andrew Mostone and his fiancé Stephanie, Alex Mostone, Alexandria Duso, Jessica Mostone, twins, Benjamin and Cameron Duso, Matthew Webster and Drew Webster; his former son in law and dear friend, Wayne Duso of Shrewsbury; a sister, Mary Ferraro and her husband Joseph of Worcester; a brother, Manuel Pacheco, Jr. and his wife Marguerite of Sterling; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Anthony J. Pacheco. George was born in Worcester, son of the late Manuel and Philomena (Baldino) Pacheco. He grew up in Worcester and graduated from Commerce High School. He was a Police Officer for the City of Worcester for many years, before he retired. George then began to work part time, driving limo and working as an attendant for area funeral homes; which led him to becoming a professional attendant and funeral coach driver, for nearly thirty years, at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel. George was fun. He loved life and he lived everyday as if it were his last. He loved people and could talk to anyone he encountered and quickly became loved and remembered by strangers who were suddenly friends. His irreverence and wit made people laugh and sometime cringe, but always made people want to hear more and bask in his vibrant personality. He loved his family; he was gifted with a loving wife, amazing children and grandchildren. He was so proud and could often be heard sharing the stories of their successes. Family was more than just being related by blood; George looked upon his work associates, his friends and fellow club members as his family. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Country Club and was honored to serve as "Chief of Protocol" and "Honorary Mayor". His membership at the club allowed him to spend time with family and friends during a round of his beloved golf or by dancing the night away at parties. George loved a party, he loved to have fun, he loved to smile, he loved to share good food and good fortune but he also loved to bust em. He was a member of the Men's Biscegliese Society, spending time with friends and enjoyed a game of cards, a glass of wine or simply remembering where he came from- a simpler time in a great neighborhood around Shrewsbury Street from a good immigrant Italian/Portuguese family.
