Joseph Ralph Aromando, of Worcester, passed away peacefully Saturday March 16th 2013 surrounded by his loving family after a sudden illness. Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of fifty years, Julia A. (Toscano) Aromando; two sons, Joseph M. Aromando of Worcester and Paul J Aromando and his wife Brenda of Framingham; two grandchildren, Derek and Daniel Aromando, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Joseph was born in Worcester to the late Joseph and Eva (Ronvick) Aromando and was one of four children predeceased by his older brother Paul, younger brother Ronald, and his late sister Marie Monroe. Joseph was a graduate from Worcester Public Schools and later joined the U.S. Army to serve his country during the Korean War in Saipan, Guam and subsequently stationed as a military police officer at the Desiret Chemical Depot in Utah. Upon returning home, he utilized the GI bill to further his education at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, while employed with the U.S. Government, Department of the Army as a Transportation Inspector stationed in Massachusetts at Ft Devens for many years prior to retiring. Joseph was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church, The Eastside Post 201 American Legion, the Chapter 4, Disabled American Veterans Post, and as a third degree member of the Pope John XXIII Council Knights of Columbus. Funeral services will be privately held Wednesday March 20th from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, followed by his Mass at Our Lady of Loreto Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrance in Joseph's name may be contributed to the Joslin Diabetes Foundation, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.
