Giuseppe Santangelo

Giuseppe Santangelo, 87, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, in his home, surrounded by loving family. Giuseppe is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Marzia (Sacco) Santangelo, whom he married while they lived in Italy; their two daughters, Carolina M. Santangelo and Susan A. Gibree and her husband William L., all of Worcester; three grandchildren, Lisa Curll and her husband Howard III, Michael Gibree and Brian Gibree; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Nicola and Antimo Santangelo. He was born in Italy, son of Luigi and Carolina (Pastore) Santangelo. He completed his schooling in Italy, but when he came to America, he continued his education here, where he studied metal work, blueprinting and architecture. Mr. Santangelo worked for many years at Arduini Manufacturing Company in Worcester, as a sheet metal fabricating engineer, before he retired. His work with metal was also a passion; he created many beautiful pieces, including an intricate fence surrounding the family home, light fixtures and railings. He was an artist. Giuseppe was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church. Giuseppe was a man who loved family above all else, he treasured his wife and children, but his grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy and happiness. He will be missed for his love and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to make everyone smile. Funeral Services for Giuseppe will be held on Saturday, March 16, with Calling Hours from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum.
