Geoffrey E. Read, 47, of Worcester, formerly of Westborough, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, from unexpected natural causes. Geoff is survived by his loving wife of ten years, Robin M.M. (Whitney) Read; two daughters, Amanda M. Read of Worcester and Allison D. Read of Grafton; a step-son, Paul A. Blanchard, Jr., of Northborough; a step-daughter, Nicole M.M. Blanchard of Worcester; his mother, Phyllis R. (Mason) Read of Peabody; five siblings, David C. Read of Topsfield, R. Clinton Read of Franklin, Paul S. Mason of Wilmington, Elizabeth J. Whittum of Newton and Wendy J. Kleis of Melrose; many nieces and nephews. He was born in Everett, Massachusetts, son of the late Carmon M. Read. Geoff grew up in Everett and graduated from Everett Vocational High School. He later served his nation proudly in the United States Air Force. Geoff's fondness for airplanes grew in the Air Force and he continued to work with planes during his civilian career as an Aircraft Pneudralic Systems Mechanic, working at Westover Air Force Base. His love of speed was not specific to airplanes; he loved his motorcycle, hotrods and fast cars of all types. He will be remembered as a great and loving husband, a caring father and faithful son and brother. His sense of humor and sarcasm will be missed by all who had known him. He loved his dog, Rocky, late night bowls of cereal and simply sitting and enjoying milk and cookies with his kids. Relatives and friends are invited to join Geoff's family for calling hours on Sunday morning, March 10, from 9 a.m. until 12 Noon in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. A Prayer Service will follow calling hours on Sunday at 12 Noon in the funeral home. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett will be at a later date.
