Thomas Tynan

Thomas J. "Butch" Tynan, 59 of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in St. Vincent's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Thomas is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Susan L. (Witkowski) Tynan; two sons, Thomas N. and Daniel J. Tynan; a daughter, Keri L. Tynan all of Worcester; his mother-in-law, Maxine Lindgren of Worcester; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Auger and her husband David, Donna Kirkos and her companion Bob Strozina all of Worcester and Paula Baronowski of Pinellas Park, FL; a brother-in-law, Paul Witkowski of Boston; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; two dogs, Tyson and Dempsey and a cat, Bella. He is predeceased by a sister, Patricia Dupont. Thomas was born in Worcester, the son of the late James and Michelina (Avolizi) Tynan and has lived here all his life. He graduated from North High School in 1972 where he excelled in basketball. Thomas worked for Durham as a bus driver for three years. He previously worked for Wright Line as a mid-welder for fifteen years. He was a member of Saint John's Church. Thomas not only enjoyed playing softball but was very dedicated and loved being a coach. He coached for many teams which include basketball for the Special Olympics as well as for Sacred Heart and St. Joseph's, baseball for Tom Ash Little League and East Side Babe Ruth and also coached Worcester Flag Football. Thomas loved the ocean and being at the beach. Services for Thomas will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Saint John's Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Friday, February 22nd from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
