Rosa Torres, 86, of Worcester, passed into the loving hands of her Lord on Sunday, February 17, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at Autumn Village. Rosa is survived by the family that was the center of her life, three daughters, Rosa "Iris" Sanchez of Auburn, Odette Santiago of Florida, Puerto Rico and Margarita Vasquez of Auburn; three sons, Jose Ismael Vazquez of Chicago, Felix Vazquez of Atlanta, GA and Antonio Torres of Worcester; thirty-one grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren; fourteen great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving son, Luis Alberto Vazquez; and by seven brothers and sisters. Rosa was born in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Modesto and Marcelina Torres. She grew up in Puerto Rico, before moving to New York in 1956 and then settling in Worcester in the 1970's. Rosa was a faithful Christian person, who cherished her family and faith. She was "the rock" that her children could rely on for love and support. Calling hours for Rosa will be held on Wednesday, February 20, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, followed by her Funeral Service at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
