Alba D'Ottavio

January 22, 1912 — February 11, 2013

Alba (Luciani) D'Ottavio, 101, died peacefully Monday February 11, 2013 in St. Vincent Hospital with loved ones around her. Her husband Angelo D'Ottavio died in 1973. Alba is survived by two son's Rick D'Ottavio of Worcester, Joseph D'Ottavio and his wife Anna Maria of Braintree, one brother John Luciani and two grandchildren Joseph and Alba, also four great grandchildren nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers; Henry, Archie Ferrera, and Ateo, and two sisters Olga and Angelina. Alba was born to the late Nicole and Amalia (Laviano) Luciani in Wakefield, Massachusetts, on January 22, 1912, and then in 1913 she went to live in Pescosansonesco, Provincia de Pescara where she lived until returning to the United States in 1953 and settled in Worcester. She attended High School in Italy. Alba worked for the Trippi Pants Company as a skilled seamstress for over 30 years before she retired. She was a long time member of both Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church and also was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church. On January 12, 2012 she received the Key to the City from Mayor Petty on her 100th Birthday! She was a skilled seamstress, and knitter, and she loved to cook especially for her family and friends. But her most cherished times were those spent with her family. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Dorris and his staff, and also the staffs of Christopher Heights, and St. Vincent Hospital. Alba's funeral will be held Friday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. A calling hour in the funeral home will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior for leaving for church. Interment will be next to her husband Angelo in St. Johns Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: Christopher Heights, 20 Mary Scano Drive, Worcester, MA. 01605.
