Boris M. Velez II, 20, of Worcester passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013 in UMASS Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Boris is survived by his father, Boris Velez and his wife Blanca Laza-Velez of Worcester, his mother Mechelle (Rahaim) Azar of Cape Coral, Florida; three brothers, Roberto Velez, Malki Velez and Alex Laza all of Worcester and his sister, Tyanna McBride of Worcester; his maternal grandmother, Joanny Rahaim and his paternal grandparents, Mervin and Sonia Velez. He also leaves a nephew, several aunts, uncles cousins and many friends. Boris was born April 7, 1992, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He attended Doherty and South High School in Worcester. Mr. Velez was a student at Quinsigamond Community College. Boris loved music, and he taught himself how to play electric guitar. He also enjoyed playing acoustic and bass guitar. Family, friends, and others whose lives Boris touched are invited to the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 11, 2013 to reminisce, grieve and support each other. Boris's funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 67 Chester Street, Worcester. Please go directly to church.
