Barbara A. (Rafferty) Jacques, 77 of Worcester, was unexpectedly called to heaven on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at UMASS Medical Center surrounded by her loving husband, 2 daughters and son. Barbara is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, John A. Jacques, Sr.; her son John A. Jacques, Jr. of San Diego, CA; her two daughters, Sandra A. Pace of West Boylston and Michelle M. Cantwell and her husband Robert of Worcester; a brother, Richard Rafferty; a sister, Sarah Erricola; six grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by five brothers, Owen, James, Raymond, Arthur and Edward Rafferty; three sisters, Anna Sarasin, Rita Lavallee and Mary Attella. Barbara was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late James M. and Annie (McKinney) Rafferty, graduated from Ascension High School and has lived here all her life. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. For many years, Barbara worked as office manager at the family business, Worcester Precision Inc. She was a charter member at St. Catherine of Sweden Church where she was involved with the Women's Guild and Rosary Sodality and for many years was a faithful minister of Holy Communion to the homebound. Barbara's greatest enjoyment in life was her faith, family and dog Molly. Funeral services for Barbara will be held this Friday, February 8, 2013 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart-St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 600 Cambridge St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Saint John's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
