Frank A. Zingarelli, 94, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, January 31st, 2013. Frank was born in Worcester, son of Italian immigrants Gaetano and Bettina (DiLiddo)Zingarelli. He grew up in the Shrewsbury Street section of Worcester and joined the U.S. Army to serve his country during World War II and was present at the Battle of the Bulge. Following the war, Frank married Agnes R. Damico and they began their 66 year marriage in Worcester. He supported his family as a skilled cement finisher for over 30 years before retiring from Local 49 Bricklayers Union in 1981. He was a master craftsman who often said that he could do anything with concrete, including "making it shine like glass." Frank was a member of St. Christopher Church. He was hardworking and friendly and rejoiced in his Italian heritage. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Agnes R. Zingarelli; two devoted daughters, Elizabeth A. Knott and her husband, Jesse M. Knott II, and Angela M. Halloran and her husband Richard J. Halloran both of Worcester. He had five wonderful grandchildren: Barbara E. Knott and her husband Scott H. Mays of Minneapolis, MN, Jesse M. Knott III and his fiancée Katie M. Cornacchioli of Worcester, Andrew R. Halloran of Lowell, Anna E. and Kristen F. Halloran both of Worcester and two great grandchildren. Frank was blessed with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends (many from the Auburn area.) He was predeceased by three brothers, James, Angelo and Maurice Zingarelli and two sisters, Mary Cosenza and a baby, Antoinette Zingarelli. Friends and family are invited to visit with the family on Monday, February 4th from 5 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be celebrated Tuesday, February 5th from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 am in St. Christopher Church, 950 West Boylston St. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Notre Dame Cemetary. In lieu of flowers remembrances in his name may be made to the St Francis Adult Day Healthcare, 101 Plantation St., Worcester, MA 01604.
