Joan S. (Sullivan) Looney, 79 of Cherry Valley, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Joan's husband of forty-two years, Thomas B. Looney passed away on January 3, 1998. She is survived by two sons, Thomas "TJ" Looney of Leicester and John B. Looney and his wife Susan of Shrewsbury; her daughter, Patty Looney of Cherry Valley with whom she lived; a brother, Paul Sullivan and his companion Mary Jane Selvatico of Worcester; eight grandchildren, Kristina, Kasey, Shannon and Shelby Looney all of Leicester, Kevin and Erin Looney both of Shrewsbury, Jacqueline DeCharles of Harwich Port, MA and Kelly Holshuh of Colorado; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a son, Terrence Looney, a daughter, Katie DeCharles and a brother, Donald Sullivan. Joan was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Dennis "Joe" and Maybelle (Cote) Sullivan and has lived here most of her life. She recently resided in Cherry Valley with her daughter. Joan graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, TX. She worked as a Telephone Operator for State Mutual for over twenty years before retiring in 1996. Joan was a member of St. John's Church. She was an avid New England Patriots fan, enjoyed cooking for her family and loved the holidays. She also loved getting together with her "Thursday Girls". Services for Joan will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in St. John's Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 27th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: American Diabetes Association, P.O.
