Teresa Santa (Sabatalo) DeMalia, (Forever 21), of Shrewsbury, MA entered into eternal life surrounded by her loving family on January 16, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. She leaves behind her beloved, devoted husband William A. DeMalia. They were married on May 10, 1952 and spent 60 wonderful years enjoying their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with her husband she leaves her sons William A. DeMalia Jr and wife Patricia of Rockledge FL, Michael A. DeMalia and wife Jeanne of Shrewsbury MA, John A. DeMalia and wife Laurie of Hubbardston MA, daughters Theresa M.A. Rocco and husband Frank of Worcester MA and Mary T. Farina of Shrewsbury MA. Her son, Andrew V. DeMalia formerly of Oxford MA and grandson/godson Vincent W. DeMalia predeceased her. She was very blessed to have enjoyed her 6 children, 28 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born on April 1, 1931 in Worcester MA daughter of Florence (DePalma) and Angelo Sabatalo. She is predeceased by her brother Angelo Sabatalo, her sister Angela DiVirgilio, and her brother-in-law Andrew V. DeMalia. She leaves her older brother Joseph Sabatalo of Worcester MA and younger brother Richard Sabatalo and wife Patricia of Auburn MA and their families, and her sister-in-laws Jean Sabatalo and Elaine DeMalia. Teresa was in the first graduating class of Venerini Academy. She will be sorely missed for her amazing Sunday dinners of macaroni, meatballs, homemade bread and apple pies all made with such love for her family. She had a smile that would light up the room and love in her heart that would warm the coldest day. "Grandmama's Beach" taught all her children and grandchildren how to swim. She loved playing tennis, walking, traveling to Europe with her husband. She loved visiting the Vatican, the Swiss Alps and Vienna to see the waltzes. Most of all she loved children and they loved her. She worked in her husband's accounting practice as his office manager for over 60 years. She was known as "Mom, Mother, Mimi, Grandmama, and Gram" to her devoted family. "The girl with the gift of tears, and the smile of happiness." A longtime member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish in Worcester MA. She loved her church and her Pastor Rev. Thaddeus Stachura. Much gratitude to the wonderful nurses from the VNA that supported her and her family during this time. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Friday January 18, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the MERCADANATE FUNERAL HOME & Chapel, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Saturday, January 19th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Czestochowa church, 34 Ward St. where her Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in St. Johns Cemetery. Flowers may be sent or memorial remembrances made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Worcester.
