Vincent S. Capurso, 87, of Worcester passed away Wednesday, January 9th in his home after a period of declining health. Vincent was born on February 25th in 1925, a son of Sergio and Antonetta (Rigante) Capurso. He attended Worcester Public Schools, joined the U.S. Army during World War II to serve his country honorably in the Army Artillery during the battles of Central Europe and the Rhineland. Upon return to his Italian neighborhood Vincent met and married the women who would be the love of his life and partner for the next 59 years, Philomena "Tiny" (DePari) Capurso. Together they bought a home and settled in the Lake Quinsigamond Neighborhood where they have lived ever since. Vincent earned his living as a salesman/counter worker in the Auto Parts Business for various dealers in our area before retiring. Vincent's beloved wife Philomena passed away in June of 2010. A brother Murry Capurso also pre-deceased him. Vincent is survived by Many nieces, nephews, including Francine and Robert Skiffington, Philip and Jane Robo who assumed the role to watch over Vinny, many grand nieces and nephews and two sisters in law, Mae (Buono) Robo of Auburn and Josephine (Tringale) Capurso of Medford. Vinny was a member of St Anne's Church and a former member of St Margaret Mary Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. A quiet man who greatest enjoyment was his garden, yard and his interest in photography. Funeral services for Vincent will be held Monday, January 14th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Private family viewing will be at 8:30 AM followed by a Mass at 10:00 AM in St Anne Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St Anne's Church Human Services, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. Shrewsbury 01545.
