Phyllis G. Rock, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Lutheran Health Care Center in Worcester with her devoted daughter by her side. She leaves her daughter, Dori Kehowski of Millbury; her grandchildren, Sherri Zisk and her husband Stephen of Douglas; Shaun Kehowski and his wife Renee of Sutton; four grandchildren, Connor, Kaitlyn, Brenna, and Jackson; a sister, Ann Gubitosi; and nieces and nephews. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, David A. Rock; her son-in-law, John J. Kehowski; four brothers, Michael, Frank, Anthony, and John Vessella; three sisters, Julia DeMaio, Josephine Corkum, and Carmella Trumbull. Phyllis was born in Worcester, a daughter of Frank A. and Maria (DeVia) Vessella. She graduated from Worcester Girls Trade School, and was a talented seamstress at Nancy Howard and Supreme Coat for many years until her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church Leisure Club and The Froshian Club. For more than 60 years, Phyllis met with her group of "Club Girls". Phyllis loved to dance, sew, play cards, and bake. She enjoyed travel and her many trips to Foxwood. But most of all, she loved being with her friends and family. Phyllis cherished every moment she could spend with her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Phyllis's celebration of life will be held Tuesday, January 8th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & Chapel, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am Tuesday in the funeral home. Her family would like to thank the staff at The Lutheran Health Care Center for the wonderful care they gave her.
