Normand J. Cote, 90, of Worcester died peacefully Wednesday January 2, 2013 in the UMASS Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 61 years Yolanda (Armenti) Cote died in 2002. Normand is survived by his loving family; a son Peter J. Cote of Wickford R. I., two daughters, Norma J. Mahoney, Sandra A. Manzaro and her husband Robert, and a daughter in-law Lynda (Hearn) Cote all of Worcester, eight grandchildren Dennis Jr., Timothy and Kelli Mahoney, Robert Jr. and Cheryl Cote, and Christine Vincequere, and Robert Jr. and Joseph Manzaro, and eight great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, brothers in-law and sisters in-law. He was predeceased by a son Robert Cote, Sr. and a son in-law Dennis Mahoney, Sr. both in 2006. He was also predeceased by a brother George Cote. Normand was born in Worcester son of the late Joseph and Irene(Mousseau) Cote and lived here all his life. He attended St Joseph's School, and played Semi Pro Baseball. Normand worked at the General Motors Plant on the assembly line and retired after 30 years of service. Typical Normand, he always stayed busy and went to work at St. Vincent's Hospital for several years. Normand was a former member of St Josephs Church, and attended St. Stephens Church. He was also a member of Oxford Country Club, the Vernon Hill Post and the Tuttle Post Tuesday Pitch League, and was an active member with the United Autoworkers Union. He enjoyed a good game of golf and loved his New England Sports Teams, but his most treasured times were those spent with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at UMASS Medical Center Step Down Unit, especially Kathy for all their kindness and compassion shown to Normand and his family during his stay there. Normand's funeral will be held Saturday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30AM in the Church of St. Stephen 357 Grafton St, Calling hours in the funeral home will be from 4PM to 8PM on Friday. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in St. Johns Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Dennis T.
