Arlene M Moriarty

Arlene M. Moriarty, 84, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 30, 2012 in Life Care Center of Auburn. Arlene is survived by her brother, Bernard Moriarty of Oakland Park, Florida; her sister, Kathryn Pingeton of Auburn; eleven nieces and nephews, including Kathleen Wenger of Laguna Beach, CA; twenty-one great nieces and nephews; six great grand nieces and nephews; several cousins including Walter and Helen Mutz of Denville, NJ. Arlene was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Ray and Harriet M. (Doerfler) Moriarty and has lived most of her life in Worcester. A sister, Dorothy Preston, predeceased her, as did two brothers in law, Joseph C. Preston and Robert N. Pingeton. Arlene attended Worcester High School of Commerce and worked many clerical jobs throughout her lifetime. She retired from the Bureau of Record Department at Worcester Police, in 1987, after 17 years of service. She loved watching golf tournaments, was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and New England Patriots. She was a great candlepin bowler, and had competed in many competitions. She immensely enjoyed her many trips to Foxwoods, the "Wonder of It All", with family members. Arlene's family would like to share their gratitude and appreciation to her sister, Kathryn Pingeton and her niece, Maureen Preston, for their love, devotion and care. They would also like to thank the staff at Life Care Center of Auburn, for their compassion, respect and dignity, provided to Arlene while she was in their care. Her Funeral will be held on Friday, January 4, from MERCADNATE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Planation Street, Worcester, with a Mass Celebrated at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of The Rosary Church, 23 Fales Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery. Family and Friends may pay their respects on Friday morning from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, before departing in procession for church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Arlene's memory may be made to The Resident's Activity Fund in care of Life Care Center of Auburn, 14 Masonic Drive, Auburn, MA 01501.
