Rose M. (DiBenedetto) Salerno, 88, of Shrewsbury passed peacefully Sunday, December 30, 2012. She is the beloved wife of Victor L. Salerno. Rose also leaves her devoted children; Elaine Marzilli and her husband Anthony of Shrewsbury, Karen Neal and her husband Jeffrey of Bolton, and Joseph Salerno and his wife Elaine of Logan Township, NJ. Rose was adored by her grandchildren, Christopher Marzilli and his wife Liza, and great grandson Matteo, Domenic and Vinnie Salerno, and her granddaughter Meredith who welcomes her with open arms. Rose also leaves her sister Vera Thomas and her husband Paul of Shrewsbury, and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and will miss her greatly. She was pre deceased by her brothers, Nicholas, and N. Joseph DiBenedetto and a sister, Mary Francese. Rose was born in Worcester daughter of the late Vincent and Rose (Scavone) DiBenedetto, and has lived in Worcester, most of her life, before moving to Shrewsbury. She was a graduate of David Hale Fanning Worcester Girls Trade School. She was a long time member of the former St. Margaret Mary Parish and also was a member of the Church of St. Anne in Shrewsbury. Rose and Vic were married for 65 years and enjoyed many winters in Boynton Beach, FL. and summers in Dennisport, on Cape Cod. Rose lived a long and loving life surrounded by family and friends. She will truly be missed. The family would like to thank the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, and the Christopher House for their kindness and caring support. Rose's funeral will be held Friday January 4, 2013 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30AM in the Church of ST. MARY 640 Main St. Shrewsbury, A calling hour will be held from 9:00AM to 10:00AM in the funeral home on Friday morning prior to leaving for church. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery Shrewsbury. Please omit flowers.
