Michelena A. Gerardi

Michelena A. "Mickey" (Giovanelli) Gerardi, 85, of Worcester died peacefully Sunday December 23, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family. Her husband John R. Gerardi Sr. died in 2007. Mickey is survived by her devoted family; sons John R. Gerardi Jr. Robert W. Gerardi, and her daughter Elaine M Gerardi all of Worcester, a brother Angelo Giovanelli and his wife Susan of Shrewsbury. Mickey also leaves a granddaughter Jennifer and her husband Mark, a greatgrandson., Anthony Joseph, and many nephews and nieces among them two special nieces Hazel and Patricia. Michelena was born in Worcester daughter of the late Pasquale and Philomena (Calabrese) Giovanelli and lived here all her life. She worked at UMASS Medical Center for many years before she retired. Mickey attended the church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann and also St. Johns Church. She was a homebody and loved to cook. But most of all she enjoyed being with her family. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Mickey's funeral will be held Friday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30AM in the Church of St John 40 Temple St. Calling hours in the funeral home will be from 9:30AM to 11AM Friday morning only. Interment next to her husband John will be in St. Johns' Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Massachusetts Alzheimer's Association 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA.02472.
