Bartolo "Joe" Saksa, 82, of Worcester passed away suddenly Monday, December 17th 2012. Joe was born in Worcester a son of Andrew and Jennie (Granata) Saksa, He was educated in Worcester served his country in the U.S. Army and has lived here all his life. Joe worked for the City of Worcester more than 30 years at the Belmont Home, and later with the Parks & Recreation Department before retiring. His wife of 42 years Mary E. (Fisher) Saksa passed away in 2003. He is survived by his four children, Andrew J. Saksa; three daughters, Lynne A., Andrea J. and Debra A. Saksa all of Worcester; 22 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A brother, Andrew Saksa and three sisters, Julia D'Errico, Martha DiLiddo and Andrea Saksa all pre deceased him. Joe was a member of St Joan of Arc Church. He loved to cook and was very active in the Lutheran Home Activities association. Funeral services will be held Saturday December 21st from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a Mass at 10:00 am in St Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St. Burial will follow in East Thompson Cemetery, East Thompson CT. A period of calling hours will be held Saturday December 21st from 8:30 to 9:30 prior to the funeral.
