Philomena "Phylli"(Manzaro) McCaffrey, 60 of Reno, NV formerly of Worcester died peacefully November 28, 2012 in the Renown Medical Health Center, Reno after a three year battle with cancer. Phylli was born in Worcester on May 19, 1952 daughter of the late Peter and Carmela (Albano) Manzaro. She was a graduate of North High School, and also the University of Nevada. She was a CPA, a dedicated public servant, a wonderful wife, mother, and sister. She was a pretty good tap dancer. Though she majored in English, her career path led to accounting and the public sector. Where she rose to become Controller of the University of Nevada in Reno. Phylli loved her family and friends, the beach, music, dancing reading and travel, especially anyplace with a warm beach. She enjoyed exercise and worked hard to stay fit, which helped her during these last difficult years. Phylli was proud of her work, both for the State of Nevada in the Housing Division and the State Controller's office and at the University, where she worked tirelessly to improve accounting and reporting practices while patiently answering everyone's questions about finances and related matters, Philomena is survived by her husband David, her son Samuel of Providence R.I. her sisters Maria Manzaro-Woodward and her husband Thomas of Worcester, and Carmela Manzaro-MacDonald and her husband Scott of Dudley, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends here in Worcester and Reno. Phylly was a wonderful person who will be truly, missed by all her family and friends. A funeral Mass was held December 7, in St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Reno. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday December 15, 2012 at 11:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt.Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. Worcester. In lieu of flowers a contribution in Philomena's memory may be made to a charity of choice to benefit children or animals would greatly be appreciated. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
