Sheryl A. Laitinen

Sheryl A. Laitinen-DiRienzo, 55, of Worcester, passed away Saturday December 1st from injuries suffered when the car she was riding in went off the road and struck a tree. Sheryl was born in Groton, grew up in Worcester, and has lived in Millbury before moving back to Worcester. Sheryl is survived a son, Derek P. DIRienzo; her parents she devoted so much time helping to care for with her sisters, Paul and Frances (Hussey) Laitinen; five sisters she cherished, Susan Laitinen, Sandy Oelschlegel, Sharon Dembinski, Sally Paquin and Sheila Finne. Her former husband Daniel C. DiRienzo, Sr.; many nieces, nephews and friends. Her first born son, Daniel C. DiRienzo, Jr. passed away in 2010. Sheryl worked as a receptionist for the Central One Bank in Shrewsbury. A very Spiritual Christian, Sheryl was an active member of the High Point Church, volunteering on several committees and finding peace and happiness in her life after Danny Jr. passed away. Privately, friends and relatives are invited to gather with the family Saturday from 12 pm to 2 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her private funeral service will be celebrated at 2 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
