Worcester--- Edward Perkins quietly passed away at home on November 20th, 2012. Edward was born on January 10, 1941, in Camden S.C. a son of Henry and Sally (Bervard) Perkins. He attended Worcester Boys Trade High School, and was known in his youth for his exceptional athletic ability, being a great basketball player with great promise often referred to as having "elastic legs" and "the more bounce to an ounce man." Edward lived a quiet life in retirement may he rest in peace. Edward is also survived by his eight children which are his greatest legacy. Edward had four exceptional daughters' Elisia Renee Stafford (Perkins) of Springfield Mass, Wendy (Perkins) Byfield, Kim A. (Perkins) Hampton, and Lorraine (McClain) Fields all of Worcester. Edward's four incredible sons, Neal E. Perkins of Worcester, Dwayne McClain of Florida, JD McClain of North Carolina and Ro Horne of Worcester; a sister, Jeannie Roberson, of Boston, Ma. Edward had Twenty-three grandchildren, many great grandchildren nieces and nephews. Edward predeceased six siblings: Bessie Hazzard, Sally Perkins, Elizabeth Perkins, Dorothy Harris, and Laura Todd, and one brother Walter Perkins. Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 6th, from 5 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His Memorial Service will follow immediately at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Edward's memory to the Worcester Boys and Girls Club, 65 Tainter Street, Worcester 01610.
