Elizabeth (Colangelo) Monfreda, 93, of Worcester, a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully with her family by her side Monday November 19th 2012. Elizabeth was born in Worcester, one of six children of the late Sergio and Jennie (DeFeudis) Colangelo. She attended Worcester Public Schools, met and married the love of her life Armand Monfreda. Together they raised their three children in Worcester until their son Ronald passed away in 1991 and her husband Armand in July of 1993. Elizabeth is survived by her devoted two children, Ralph Monfreda and his wife Wendy, and Marie Hamilton all of Worcester; five grandchildren she cherished, Diane Harrington, Joey Hamilton, Jaimie Hill and her husband Ian, Jessica and Josh Monfreda; four great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends including Jennifer McHugh, Meagan Platt and Matt Pervier whom she also considered loving grandchildren. Besides her husband and son, Elizabeth was pre deceased by her two brothers, Vincent and Julio Colangelo, and three sisters, Angelina Roach, Phyllis Leszuk, and Antoinetta Schiaraffa; Elizabeth worked many years in her life. She worked as an assembler for the Frohock & Stewart Company well into her seventies retiring at the age of 76. Elizabeth a simple Italian lady, who cherished her heritage, passed it on to her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook for everyone who entered her home, found joy in the times she could be with her family both during the holidays and the summers at Hampton Beach. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, its Golden Years and the Worcester Lodge 168, Order Sons of Italy in America. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Friday, November 23rd from 5 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be celebrated Saturday November 24th from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial next to her husband and son will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers remembrances in Elizabeth's name can be made to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church building fund, 24 Mulberry St.
