Joan E. (Scampini) Berthiaume, 77, of Worcester passed away peacefully Sunday, October 28th 2012 with her devoted family by her side. Joan's husband of 25 years, Clayton E. Lowell passed away in 1996. She is survived by the family she loved so much; her daughters, Donna Garabedian and her husband Kenneth with whom she lived, Joan Collins and her husband Frederic of Worcester and Sandra deSimas and her husband Antonio of East Providence R.I.; her son, Jon Lowell and his wife Jacqueline of Worcester; her other three children Stephen E. Lowell, Richard Jannine and Darlene Lowell; her sister and best friend; Sandra Cove and her husband Alfred of Ashburnham; her brother, Norman "Snookie" Scampini and his wife Joanne; fourteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; her dog, Benny and Cat, Hannah; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Joan was born in in Worcester; her parents were the late Augustus and Alice (Brunelle) Scampini. She has lived here all her life. Joan worked many years in various positions for the Wire Fab Company before retiring. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. A simple woman whose best times in life were spent with her children, grandchildren and especially her sister. She enjoyed her occasional trips to Foxwoods and Twin Rivers. Joan especially adored her nickname "Ruby" which was given to her by her son-in-law, Freddy. Joan's funeral will be held Thursday, November 1st from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a procession to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. where her Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. A period of visitation will be held Thursday from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in the funeral home prior to leaving for church.
