Sophie Corron

Assunta "Sophie" (Buffone) Corron of Worcester died peacefully Saturday October 20, 2012 in the Millbury Healthcare Center surrounded by loved ones. Her husband Dowell Corron predeceased her. Sophie is survived by three sons Alan Corron and his wife Carol of Sutton, Paul Corron and his wife Mary of Barre, and Steven Corron and his wife Maureen of Shrewsbury, a sister Rita Czechowski, and eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Sophie was predeceased by eight brothers; George, Dominic, Robert, Angelo, Frank, Joseph, Henry, and Louis Buffone, and three sisters; Christine Swenson, Louise Bellizzi, and Irene Borowy. She was born in Worcester daughter of the late Vincenzo and Schiavonia (Coshignano) Buffone and lived here all her life. She was a graduate of Commerce High School. Sophie enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a long time active member of the Church of Our Lady of Loreto as well as it's Women's Guild,and Leisure Club. She was always one of the first to donate her time and cooking skills for church functions throughout the year and really enjoyed being with her friends at church. She loved to walk, but most of all she enjoyed being with her family especially the 4th of July picnics, holidays with her family,and the Tuesday Breakfast Club. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Millbury Healthcare Center for their kindness and care shown to Sophie during her stay there. Sophie's funeral will be held Tuesday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Loreto 37 Massasoit Rd. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held from 5PM to 7PM on Monday evening. Interment will be in St John's Cemetery.
