Miroslawa "Miriam" (Zielinska) Lorenc, 84, of Worcester passed away at the Millbury Health Care Center on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. Miriam's husband Boleslaw Lorenc passed away in 1993. She is survived by three loving daughters, Halina M. Tetreault and her husband Stephen, Christine B. Roach and her husband William all of Worcester, Dianne I. Baranowski and her husband Donald of South Hadley; a sister, Irene Stepien of Worcester; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family. Two sisters, Lillian Kline and Zofia Moniak pre deceased her. Born in Huta Stepanska, Poland, she was the daughter of Stanislaw and Stanislawa (Homicz) Zielinska. Miriam grew up in Poland. When Poland was invaded by Germany, she became a prisoner of war for three years. When the war was over, she became a refugee in England, where she met her husband. They immigrated to the United States in 1951 and had lived here all their lives. She cherished her family and the time she could spend with them. She loved all animals, especially cats. She enjoyed spending her time outdoors whenever possible watching the birds at the birdfeeder. The family would like to thank the staff at the Millbury Health Care Center for all their compassion and care of our mother and to the families of the residents at the Millbury Health Care Center for all their support and conversations during our mother's stay. Private funeral services and burial in Notre Dame Cemetery were held earlier. Remembrances in Miriam's name can be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St. Worcester Mass 01606.
