Joseph J. Urella Sr., 84, of Worcester passed peacefully Sunday, September 23rd. Joseph is survived by his son, Joe and his wife Charlene of Shrewsbury, four grandchildren, Tia, Matteo, Tim, and Jeff, and a great grandson Domenic. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by a grandson Patrick, and five siblings; Mike, John, Sal, Umbey, and Ann and also cousins Gerald, Ralphie and Sandy,(his favorite). C-Joe was born in Worcester and enjoyed spending time with his buddies on Shrewsbury St. He was a WWII U.S. Army- Air Corp. veteran, stationed on Guam. Upon his discharge, Joe started his career as a chef at the College of the Holy Cross, followed by a position as head chef at Framingham Union Hospital which he held for over 25 years until his retirement. He was also one of the original co-owners of the Italian Kitchen. Joe was a life member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, and was a founding member of The East Side Improvement Club, Italian-American VFW Post #3, and the East Side Post # 201 American Legion. Joe lived at 50 Shrewsbury St. for many years. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. A special thanks to his confident "Mike", all the staff members of Homestead Hall, Summit Elder Care, and the Radius Healthcare Center . All services for Joe will be held privately at the family's convenience.
