Eugene E. Davis, 89, a lifetime resident of Worcester and a retired Worcester Police Officer , died peacefully Tuesday, September 25, 2012 in his daughter's home. He leaves his wife of 67 years, Juliana A (Junnila) Davis and his daughter, Bette Lou Davis Parker and her husband Benjamin Parker of Lunenburg; a sister, Geraldine Westerlind of Worcester; four grandchildren, Shannon LaFosse of Ashburnham, James Davis of Lunenburg, Noelle Hohnecker of Great Falls, Montana and Melanie Blavackas of Barre; fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, Robert C. Davis and a sister, Jane Laventure. Eugene was the son of the late Horace C. & Aldia M. (Magnan) Davis and was born in Worcester on June 2, 1923. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve his country during World War II. Eugene was a Worcester Patrolman and Detective for 30 years. He also was a licensed plumber . Prior to becoming a Police Officer he worked at the Worcester Municipal Airport. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Asiatic Fleet. Eugene was a member of the American Legion Post 0435 an avid fisherman, both fresh and salt water, and he loved hunting with friends and family. You are invited to attend his visiting hours in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, from 4-7 pm Friday, September 28, 2012. His funeral will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 29th at 11 am. Burial at Hillside Cemetery in Rindge, NH will be private.
