R. Genevieve Graboski

July 26, 1921 — September 20, 2012

R. Genevieve (Valentine) Graboski of West Boylston formerly of Worcester passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster. Genevieve's husband Victor P. Graboski, passed away in May of 1997. She is survived by her daughter Jeanne Girardin and her husband Richard of Westminster; a brother, Robert Valentine of Worcester; three grandchildren, Lori Slattery, Michael and Shelby Girardin; one great grandchild, Patrick Slattery; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a son, Paul Graboski; a brother, Henry Valentine, Jr.; a sister, Florence Kowaleski; a grandson, Matthew Girardin. She was born in Millbury, daughter of the late Henry and Rose (Maile) Valentine and resided in both Worcester and later West Boylston for most of her life. She graduated from Commerce High School and Becker College and worked for Norton Company for several years. Genevieve was devoted to her family and lived for her children and grandchildren. She was very caring and giving to others. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in West Boylston where she was very involved in the Women's Guild and was a Boy Scouts Den Mother. In her younger years she sang on WTAG in Worcester. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and vacationing on Cape Cod. A private graveside service for Genevieve will be held Wednesday, September 26th, 2012 in Saint John's Cemetery, 260 Cambridge St., Worcester. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: The American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA. 02241-7005. Genevieve's family would like to thank Summit Elder Care of Leominster, Dr. Campus, Dr. Elkerm & staff, for the excellent care and compassion they gave her.
