George H. Army, Jr., 68, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by a son, George J. Army and his wife Elizabeth of Shrewsbury and a daughter, Lynn Sunden and her husband Leif of Worcester; and his mother, Regina (Bialobrzeski) Army of Worcester; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Carole Mong. George was born in Worcester, son of the late George H. Army. He graduated from Worcester Boy's Trade High School; where he was an all star in football, basketball and baseball. Following his graduation, George served his nation proudly in the Unites States Navy, during The Cuban Crisis. George was a long time staple in the Worcester diner scene, having been the owner of the Miss Worcester Diner for twenty-five years, and The Green Island Diner for eighteen years, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the Worcester American Legion Post 435 and the Auburn Sportsman's Club. He was a twenty-five year donor to the DAV and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
