Mary (Ascrizzi) Cassella, 91, of Sunrise, Florida formerly of Worcester passed away Friday, August 31st 2012 in her home with family gathered beside her. Mary was born in Worcester a daughter of Frank and Anna (Pescara) Ascrizzi. She grew up in Worcester, graduated from Worcester Girls trade school and began to work as a stitcher for Various Clothing Manufacturers in Worcester. She met and married the love of her life for sixty eight years, Lawrence A. "Larry" Cassella Sr. who passed away in 2008. Together they settled in Worcester and raised their family until Larry Sr. retired and the moved to Florida in 1973. Mary is survived by her two devoted and much loved children, Maryann Cassella, and Lawrence A. "Larry" Cassella, Jr. both of Sunrise, Florida; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and extended family in Massachusetts and Florida including two special longtime friends Lucille and Karen whom she shared much enjoyment and many great times. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. Her enjoyments included the sun and warmth of Florida, and visiting the Arcades in Sunrise. She was a very wise women, whose words of wisdom to anyone who seeked her guidance were helpful and comforting. She was a special woman, who cherished her five generations of family members. Her children, grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren were the lights of her life. Mary's funeral will be held Friday, September 7th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a Mass at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial next to her husband Larry will follow in St John Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday, September 6th from5 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home. The family request that flowers be omitted.
