Shirley M. "Pearl" (Gauthier) Brindisi, 84, of Worcester passed away Saturday, September 1st 2012 with family gathered beside her. Shirley was born in Worcester a daughter of Antonio and Marion (Duffy) Gauthier. She was educated in Worcester, met and married her husband of the next 45 years Domenic A. Brindisi, Sr. together they settled in the Burncoat area of Worcester to raise their children and has lived there all her life. Shirley's husband of 45 years Domenic passed away in 1995. She is survived by her eight devoted children, Domenic A. "Nick" Brindisi Jr. and his wife Roseann, Robert P. Brindisi and his wife Lynda and James "Jim" S. Brindisi all of Worcester, Patricia V. Doherty and her husband John, Nancy C. Brown and her husband Bill all of Oxford, Deborah A. Brindisi of Worcester, Susan M. Brinidisi of Auburn and Lynn A. Brindisi of Springfield; 23 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; Nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Shirley was an employee of the Worcester School Department for more than 20 years. She began as a teacher's aide at St Nicholas Ave School, and retiring as a Library Assistant for this same school. Shirley was a member of St Joan of Arc Church. Her enjoyments included dancing, cards, her garden, yard and music. Her special interest was her large extended family; three generations of Brindisi's gathering together gave her the most inspiration in her life. She treasured the holidays and times they could all be together. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Tuesday, September 4th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAEPL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral celebration will be held Wednesday September 5th from the funeral home with a Mass at 11:30 am in St Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery.
