Donald P. Swenson, 84, of Holden, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, surrounded by his loving family. Donald is survived by a sister, Louse Dacri of Worcester; five nephews and three nieces including Deborah Slavinskas and her husband Dan of Worcester, who was his primary care giver; many great nieces and nephews; and his caring neighbors on Bailey Road in Holden. He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and David Swenson and by a sister, Anita Swenson. Donald was born in Worcester, son of the late Charles E. and Theresa F. (Quillia) Swenson. He grew up in Worcester and had graduated from Worcester Boy's Trade. He served his nation proudly during World War II in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan. He returned to Worcester, before moving to Holden in the 1970's. He worked in the research and development lab at Norton Company for many years, before retiring in 1985. He was a private pilot and had owned his own plane. He was a member of the Norco Sportsman's Club in Princeton. Calling hours for Donald will be held on Monday, September 3, from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., followed by Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment in All Faiths Cemetery, will be held privately. Donald's family would like to the VNA Hospice team, for all of their care and compassion, during his time in their care.
