Marie E. (Brandt) Crochiere, 72, of Worcester, passed away on Friday morning, August 24, 2012 in Saint Vincent Hospital. Marie is survived by the family she loved so much; a son, James A. Crochiere; a daughter, Jo-Ann Y. Hamelin, both of Dudley; a brother, Clyde Brandt of Worcester; three grandchildren, Paul Anthony Hamelin, Hannah Marie Hamelin and Lainey Elizabeth Hamelin; a great grandson, Noah Patrick Hamelin; many nieces and nephews, including Katherine B. Brandt-Gagnon, who she thought of as a daughter; many great nieces and nephews, including Elizabeth Marie, Jeremiah Francis and Gwendolyn Rose Gagnon, her little babies. Marie was pre-deceased by her grandson, Joel Francis Hamelin; and by two brothers, Paul Anthony Brandt, III and Gerald Francis Brandt. Marie was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts daughter of the late Paul A. and Katherine M. (Parker) Brandt, and has lived here all her life. She graduated from Ascension High School and later graduated from Worcester Girl's Trade School of Nursing and performed her nurses training at Worcester City Hospital. Marie was an LPN for over thirty-five years at Saint Vincent Hospital, before she retired; and in the spirit of caring for others, she continued to work as an elderly care giver. She cared deeply for her patients, client and the families entrusted to her care of over fifty years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and was a minister of Holy Communion. She was also active in the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. She was profoundly grateful for the outpouring of love and kindness shown to her throughout her illness. Calling hours for Marie will be held on Wednesday, August 29, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, from the funeral home, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton Street, Worcester.
