Rose Massey

Rose (Norwicki) Massey, 89, formerly of Rutland and Worcester passed away Saturday August 18th after a period of declining health. She is predeceased by her parents William & Anna and siblings Robert, Anna, John, Julian, Frank, & William and her husband William Massey. She is survived by the family she loved so much including her three sons Wallace Massey and his wife Linda of Rutland and their children Lindsey, Kevin, Patrick & Mackenzie; Thomas Massey of Auburn and his children Brian, Ashley, Tom & Amanda; and William Massey and his wife Carol of Worcester and their children Chris & Lindsay; two great grandchildren Ireland & Maddex ; a sister in law Marjorie Friars of Shrewsbury as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who all cherished her. Rose was born in Worcester, MA. She worked for State Mutual Life Insurance for over 30 years before retiring. She was an avid volunteer giving her time to such programs as Junior Achievement and Preservation Worcester. Thirsty for knowledge Rose continued her education throughout her life. She attended many classes in various subjects at Worcester State College, Clark University, Anna Maria, Quinsigamond Community College and Worcester Nightlife well into her 70's. Rose was a member of Sacred Heart Church. She was the coordinator of the State Mutual travel Club. Her family was the light of her life. Being with her boys and her grandchildren were what made her life special. Calling hours will be held Wednesday August 22 from 9:00am to 10:30am at the MERCANDANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Church, 600 Cambridge Street. Burial in Hope Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Unit, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA.
