Lucy M. (Viola) Piccirilli, 100, formerly of 16 Rena St and Notre Dame LTC passed away peacefully Thursday August 16, 2012 with her family gathered beside her. Lucy was born in Worcester a daughter of John and Corazia (Salrone) Viola. She graduated from Worcester Girls Trade and took a job as a tailor. Lucy then met and married her husband Joseph Piccirilli who passed away in 1975. Together they settled in Worcester to raise their two daughters, and has lived here all her life. After her husband passed away, Lucy took a job as a seamstress for the Marcus Company altering Bridal gowns. Lucy is survived by her two devoted daughters, Marie G. Dubrey and her husband Paul of Sturbridge and Linda M. Tuthill of Millbury; four grandchildren, Paul A. Dubrey, Jr. and his wife Brenda, Michele Peterson and her husband Gary, Thomas Duprey and his wife Stephanie, Jeff Gould and his wife Tara; six cherished grandchildren; Nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides her husband Joseph, Lucy was pre deceased by a granddaughter Jennifer Ann Gould, and three sisters, Margaret Campanale, Elizabeth Capalbo, and Antoinette Beauregard. Lucy was the matriarch of her family who cherished the traditions of her Italian heritage. She was a fabulous cook, known for her baking and as a superb seamstress. But, family was the center of her life. They came first, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren her shinning lights. The happiest moments in her life were spent in their company and on special holidays. Family was her life's inspiration. Lucy was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, a former member of St Margaret Mary. She was a member and volunteer for the Retired Senior Volunteers Association (RSVP) for over 40 years. As a volunteer, she worked on knitting and crocheting blankets and Afghans for infants born with terminal diseases. She also enjoyed walking, her garden and her house. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Monday August 20th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, August 21st from the funeral will with a procession to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial next to her husband will follow in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, Harmony Village Unit, 559 Plantation St. The Piccirilli family would like to thank the entire staff of the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, especially the Harmony Village Unit for the Compassion, Care and understanding they gave to Lucy and our family during a difficult time. Lucy will be sorely missed most especially by her two daughters and family.
